Rafael is an Emeritus Professor, Dept. of Information Systems and Decision Sciences, Craig School of Business, CSU, Fresno. He has over 30 years of experience in teaching and research in Management Sciences, Statistics, Information Systems, and Optimization. Before coming to Fresno in the mid ’80s, he was a Professor in the Business School at Florida International University in Miami. He has a Ph. D. in Management Sciences from the University of Waterloo, Ontario and a M. Sc. in Statistics from the Colegio de Postgraduados in Chapingo, Mexico. His research interests include publications in Combinatorial Optimization, Statistics, Economics and Finance. Rafael was Visiting Scholar at the Faculty of Commerce, University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia; and Zambyl Inst. of Construction and Land Irrigation, in Taraz, Kazakhstan. His consulting experience ranges from governments, including Canadian Fisheries, U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization; to large and small organizations including Eastern Airlines, the California Trucking Association, the Ranger Group, and the City of Fresno Visitor’s Bureau. He was a Scholar with the Ford and Rockefeller Foundations. Dr. Solis was born and raised in Mexico and came to the U.S. in the mid-1970s.
