Dr. Christopher J. Nellum is a social impact executive dedicated to advancing equity and opportunity for California’s students and families. As the Executive Director of EdTrust-West, he leads a team of advocates committed to dismantling the racial and economic barriers embedded in the state’s education system.
A gubernatorial appointee, Dr. Nellum serves on several statewide committees and on the advisory boards of the New Leadership Academy and GENup, and the Boards of Directors of the James B. McClatchy Foundation and Swipe Out Hunger. He is a frequent writer and media commentator on issues of racial equity in education.
Dr. Nellum holds a bachelor’s degree from UC Santa Barbara, a master’s from CSU Long Beach, and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
