Lani Lucas

Grants and Collaboration Associate

She • Her • Hers

As JBMF’s newest team member, Lani serves as Grants and Collaboration Associate. She grew up on the island of Oahu and experienced the beauty of being surrounded by diverse cultures, lifestyles, and most importantly, food! She attended Gonzaga University where she earned a B.A. in sociology and partnered with several organizations to facilitate youth programming through local school districts, county libraries and parks, and transitional housing centers. Lani moved to the Bay Area and began her career in education as an after school program instructor and a behaviorist. She then transitioned into philanthropy and completed a fellowship program with the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, supporting individual and family donors’ grantmaking goals.

I believe in the power of listening; of making someone feel heard and understood. JBMF’s unique grantmaking approach starts with listening to what’s most important to our communities and those closest to the issue, then building and fostering meaningful relationships. Listening is the foundation of the long-lasting impact and change we long for.
